Highly Reactive UV-Curing Resin with Reduced Shrinkage for Medical Equipment

The medical equipment industry is one of the largest in the world and is expected to keep growing. Adhesives are widely used in this field, especially in devices like catheters, syringes, and endoscopes. UV-curing resins are in high demand because they can speed up production time. ThreeBond has developed the 3094 Series UV-curing resins specifically for medical use, which are used in various applications, such as bonding syringe needles and infusion tubes.

UV-curing resin

Let’s focus on key features of UV-Curing Resin

Key Features

  • High Reactivity: Cures quickly under UV light.
  • UV-LED Compatibility: Works with UV-LED at 365 nm wavelength.
  • Strong Adhesion: Bonds well to glass, metal, plastic, and more.

Applications

  • Used in bonding parts of medical devices, like needles and needle hubs.

Development Highlights

The newly developed ThreeBond 3094J resin uses a new formula that reduces shrinkage during curing and increases reactivity compared to the older ThreeBond 3094D. It still cures effectively with UV-LED at 365 nm and provides strong bonding to various materials.

Properties and general characteristics

Reactivity

UV-LED(365nm) 4000mW/cm²

When exposed to UV-LED light at 365 nm and 4000mW/cm², ThreeBond 3094J delivers the same excellent performance as the previous version but with less shrinkage during curing. Tests show that the new resin reacts faster, completing the curing process in a shorter time.
